The same red heat under the long slope of the disc brake is the key

Disc brake is a kind of braking method that owners are more familiar with, and it is more common in passenger cars. The principle is to clamp the brake disc through the caliper, so that the brake pad inside and the brake disc produce friction to achieve vehicle deceleration or stop.

When it comes to the advantages of the disc brake, the owners are not unfamiliar: light weight, sensitive braking, good heat dissipation, and air suspension, not only can reduce the vehicle's weight, save fuel, but also improve the smooth operation of the vehicle, reduce cargo damage. Coupled with the blessing of regulations, the disc brake surpassed the drum brake overnight and became a braking method that was strongly recommended.

It is worth noting that the disc brake is not everything. Some owners think that the brake of the disc brake is exposed in the air, and the heat dissipation is better, so there will be no overheating problem.

In fact, in some road conditions that require continuous braking for a long time, such as long downhill, the disc brake will also appear red and hot.

However, the thermal attenuation performance of the disc brake is better than that of the drum brake, and it can provide relatively stable braking force even at higher temperatures. However, it has to be admitted that compared with the cold state, its braking force must be reduced. Secondly, the high temperature of the brake disc will also bring other dangers, such as excessive wear of friction parts, causing spontaneous combustion of the shaft end, and so on.

In addition, the braking force of the disc brake is often criticized. Because the brake friction area of the disc trailer axle is small, the braking force is inferior to the drum brake. This is also one of the reasons why disc trailer axles are widely used in passenger cars and less used in freight vehicles.

For the owners of the disc trailer axle, the following points must be noted in daily use:

1, in the long-term continuous braking of the road conditions, as far as possible to use auxiliary braking to control the speed, such as engine braking, exhaust braking, etc., to avoid the brake temperature is too high.

2, when the brake is overheating, do not cool by pouring water, so as to avoid a large amount of cold water concentrated on the red brake disc leading to brake damage.

3, as far as possible to install the hydraulic retarder, ABS, EBS and other devices, while maintaining the disc brake response speed, enhance the braking strength and reliability, so that the vehicle in the shortest distance to stop smoothly.

Finally, to remind the owners, the choice of braking mode to consider the actual use of the vehicle, must not follow the clouds, although the disc brake is good, but not necessarily suitable for all transport vehicles, especially those who often pull heavy cargo owners, the use of greater braking force drum trailer axle may be more appropriate.
