But the retarder work is a complex system, six or seven years ago the retarder or trailer axle alone, do not have to consider the state of the vehicle. The current retarder automatically adjusts the working state according to the state of the vehicle, including vehicle speed, engine cooling system, transmission gear, engine speed and so on.
The heat dissipation of the retarder mainly depends on the engine heat dissipation system, if the water circulation is not good, the heat dissipation effect is not good, the retarder will quit the work. For example, when we open the retarder downhill, this time the gearbox gear is relatively high, the relative speed of the engine is relatively low, which may cause the water temperature to be too high, and then cause the retarder to exit the work.
However, there is a problem that follows, the manual transmission may not know how to choose several gears to cooperate with the retarker when going downhill, if the gear is too high, the speed may be too high, the heat dissipation can not keep up, if the gear is too low, it may lead to the engine speed is too high, causing engine damage.
So we recommend that you choose AMT gearbox, whether it is domestic or imported AMT, are specially reserved for the retarder electrified interface. Compared to a manual transmission, the AMT raises or lowers the gear according to the retarder, engine and vehicle operation to ensure that the retarder is always in the best working condition.
The second is the cooperation of the vehicle sensor, especially ABS or EBS, we all know that when the road is wet, the use of retarder may cause the vehicle to slip. If there is a sidesslip, there will be a wheel speed difference on both sides of the tire, and the computer will determine that the wheel speed difference is a sidesslip, and directly let the retarder exit the work.
Therefore, your vehicle's ABS must not fail, if there is a problem, the retarder may not be used directly. In addition, some imported cars are equipped with EBS braking system, if you want to match the vehicle better, then it is recommended that the trailer is also installed with EBS system, so that the vehicle braking consistency will be better.
There is also the most critical use link, the retarder is generally divided into 5 gear, 1 gear is a constant speed, such as downhill speed is 40km/h when the retarder is opened. Then the retarder will automatically adjust the braking trailer axle torque and control the speed at about 40. 2-5 gear according to the height of the brake torque is not the same, the highest gear when the braking torque reaches 100%.
For example, when we are going downhill, the speed in front is very slow, and we need to slow down, then we only need to gently pull the retarder to constant speed gear or 2 gear. If you still need to slow down, pull the retarder operating handle in turn until you reach the highest gear. Do not pull the retarder to the highest gear all at once, if all at once to the highest gear, it may cause the head to push because the braking torque is too large, and then an accident.
In the wet and snow road should be careful to use the retarder, in such road conditions, it is best to use with the driving brake. If you use the retarder directly, or pull it to the end all at once, you will directly push the head of the accident.
As an auxiliary brake, the hydraulic retarder has been accepted by the majority of card friends, but it must be matched with the corresponding electrical system when selecting the retarder. If it is to buy a new car, it is recommended to choose the trailer axle original hydraulic retarder directly when booking the car, because the car companies have made the corresponding match. In addition, we must pay attention to the method in the later use, so as to ensure the maximum degree of safety and make the non-wear brake.
