The so-called middle axle trailer is a trailer in which the axle of the carriage is installed in the middle of the carriage. This is more obvious when compared with the semi-trailer:

1. Axle position:

2. Traction device:


The traction device of the middle axle trailer cannot move up and down;


Full trailer traction device can swing up and down, but also can swing left and right.


3. Composition structure:


The middle axle trailer is mainly composed of carriage, axle and traction device, without bogie;


The full trailer is composed of a carriage, an axle, a bogie and a traction device, which can be turned with the direction of the tractor.


4. Connection position:


The traction hook connecting the middle axle trailer with the main vehicle is located under the frame and indirectly connected with the frame;


The full trailer is connected to the main vehicle by a traction hook mounted on the main vehicle frame.

Full trailers once occupied a place in the freight market, but later because of driving difficulty and safety problems, gradually replaced by semi-trailers. Because the front axle of the full trailer has a steering function, and then the steering of the main car, it is equivalent to two independent steering systems, so it is easy to lock yourself when reversing accidentally. At this point, the center axle trailer is better, because its tracking performance is better, and the tractor is used as the steering wheel when reversing, and it is easy to get started slowly in the opposite direction.

Advantages of mid-axle trailer:


1, the vehicle length is longer, more loading.


According to GB 1589-2016 "Automobile, trailer and automobile train outer size, axle load and mass limits", the length limit of the train for the transport of the middle axle vehicle is 22 meters, it should be known that the length limit of the semi-trailer is 13.75 meters, and the length limit of the container semi-trailer is 13.95 meters, which can be 5 meters more than the length of the hinged train. Do not underestimate the 5 meters, for the transportation of goods, but not a small space.


2, the vehicle chassis is lower.


The power of the mid-axle trailer comes from the chassis of the vehicle in front of it, and its tow hook is usually set on the chassis of the front car, which is lower in height than the traction pin of the semi-trailer. The chassis is a short, the center of gravity is lower, the vehicle is more stable, the operation safety is better, and the passage of the vehicle is stronger in the case of a high ceiling road. For mid-axle coupes, the low chassis means that double rows can be stacked up and down for greater capacity.


3, bend through strong.


The wheels of the middle axle trailer are in the middle of the car, so the wheelbase is shorter, the turning radius is smaller, and the semi-trailer can't turn through the relatively small corner, but the middle axle trailer may turn through. Therefore, under the same turning radius, the middle axle trailer can be done longer.


Disadvantages of middle axle trailer:


1. High requirements for road conditions.


The chassis of the middle axle trailer is lower, although it has advantages on the road with limited height, at the same time, the low chassis is also easy to cause the vehicle to be unable to adapt to poor road conditions.


2. The price is high.


Compared with the semi-trailer, the cost of using the mid-axle trailer is higher. For example, if the semi-trailer bucket is broken, you can directly change a new bucket, but the front of the mid-axle trailer and the bucket are matched, and the matching must be considered if you want to change the car.


3, the product is not mature enough.


The wheels of the middle axle trailer are in the middle of the carriage, and it is easy to swing up and down or swing left and right when running, which affects the smoothness of the vehicle to a certain extent. In addition, there is almost no gap between the front car and the cargo car of the middle axle trailer, once the front car needs to brake, the rear car will push forward due to inertia, and if there is a fierce collision, the cab can not move back, and the safety is worrying.


4. More difficult to drive.


The required driver's license type for a mid-axle trailer is A2. Although it is said that the chassis of the middle axle trailer is low and the wheelbase is short, in practical applications, many owners have reflected that "you have to have some technology to open", "it is too difficult to turn", "it is absolutely a master to open", "it has been shaking" and so on.
