The hydraulic retarder also needs to be maintained
As a new auxiliary braking system, hydraulic retarder is widely used in freight vehicles which often travel to and from mountainous areas. The working principle of the hydraulic retarder is to convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle into heat energy trailer axle and then dissipate heat through the cooling system of the engine to achieve constant speed or deceleration of the vehicle.
Like other vehicle components, the hydraulic retarder also needs to be regularly maintained and maintained, so as to ensure its stable and good operation, mainly including the following aspects:
1. Replace the oil regularly
The hydraulic retarder needs to add special hydraulic transmission oil, and the maintenance cycle and requirements of the different brands of hydraulic retarder are not the same, and the owners can refer to the instructions of the purchased liquid retarder. In addition, it is necessary to select the appropriate oil model in combination with the vehicle's operating conditions and ambient temperature.
Under normal circumstances, the oil change cycle of the hydraulic retarder is best not to exceed one year, the hydraulic retarder of the road vehicle is recommended to change the oil every 100,000 kilometers, and the off-highway operating vehicle is recommended to change the oil every 60,000 kilometers, if the vehicle with poor working conditions should be appropriately reduced on this basis.
Detailed oil change tutorial:
(1) Stop the vehicle on the horizontal ground, pull the trailer axle handbrake, turn off the hydraulic retarder, and turn off the engine;
(2) When the oil temperature reaches the working temperature, start the oil change:
(3) Use a wrench to unscrew the hex oil injection bolt and sealing ring at the top of the liquid buffer, taking care not to let foreign matter such as dust fall into the liquid buffer;
(4) Unscrew the oil release bolt at the bottom of the liquid slow, and use the container to collect the oil. Note that the temperature of the bolt and the oil may be relatively high, and wear protective gear such as gloves to avoid burns;
(5) Check the amount of oil released, if it is significantly less than the specified capacity, it is necessary to detect whether there is oil leakage; If more than the specified capacity, it is necessary to consider whether the transmission oil is mixed. In this case, it is recommended to send the vehicle to a special maintenance station for maintenance;
(6) Observe the released oil and determine whether there is abnormal work inside the liquid delay. If the oil is dark brown with a harsh smell, milky white turbidity, emulsification or particles, this situation is mostly a failure inside the liquid delay, should contact after-sales maintenance as soon as possible;
(7) If there is no problem with the above steps, apply silicone and acid-free grease to the sealing ring, and screw in the oil drain bolt at the bottom of the liquid buffer according to the specified torque;
(8) Use a clean funnel through the top of the filling hole, add new special oil, in order to maintain the internal performance of the liquid slow, it is recommended to choose the original oil. Pay attention to slowly inject part of the oil, and then wait for 2 minutes, then slowly inject the rest of the oil;
(9) Apply silicone and acid-free grease to the oil bolt and trailer axle seal ring, and use a wrench to screw in the hex oil bolt on the top of the liquid buffer according to the specified torque.
2. Replace the filter element regularly
The filter element of the hydraulic retarder is generally replaced every 120,000 kilometers, and the owners can replace it according to the detailed cycle required by the instruction manual.
Detailed replacement tutorial:
(1) Unscrew the two hex bolts on the top of the liquid slow, remove the filter component, pay attention to the high temperature of the filter component, and wear gloves and other protective gear;
(2) Replace the new original filter element and ensure that it is installed in the designated position;
(3) Install the top cover and tighten the two cylindrical head hex bolts.
In addition to regularly replacing the oil and filter element of the hydraulic retarder, the circulating waterway and air road should also be checked frequently to ensure that the waterway is smooth and the air pressure is adjusted normally, and to avoid leakage of the waterway and air road, affecting the use of the liquid retarder.
