How to judge vehicle faults from the color of truck exhaust

Exhaust gas is the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe of the vehicle during use. Some experienced old drivers can determine where the vehicle is faulty through the different colors of the exhaust gas, but this is more difficult for beginners.

1. White exhaust gas

Under normal circumstances, when diesel vehicles start in winter, because the vehicle temperature is low, some fuel atomization is insufficient, and it is discharged in fine particles, so it is easy to form white smoke, and the general engine temperature can disappear after rising.

If the vehicle has been emitting white smoke, the following faults may have occurred:

Fuel quality is poor, containing more water;

Engine gasket seal is not tight, resulting in coolant into the cylinder;

Engine cylinder block cracks or trachoma, water infiltration;

The fuel injector and fuel injection pump work poorly, resulting in poor diesel atomization;

The EGR cooler is damaged, and the water gas is recirculated into the combustion chamber to participate in combustion, resulting in white smoke;

The intercooler is damaged, causing water to enter and participate in the combustion, forming white smoke.

2. Black exhaust gas

Black exhaust is very common in vehicle use, the reason is that the diesel combustion is incomplete, resulting in the exhaust gas contains a large number of carbon particles, so it appears black.

If the exhaust pipe emits a lot of black smoke, accompanied by engine jitter or abnormal sound, and the vehicle acceleration is weak, it indicates that the engine has serious carbon accumulation, and the carbon accumulation needs to be cleaned up as soon as possible trailer axle.

If a large amount of black smoke is discharged from the engine exhaust pipe and accompanied by the sound of firing, it can be concluded that the mixture is too strong. Or because the injection time is too early, the injection timing should be readjusted; If the air filter is blocked, it should be cleaned or replaced.

If the engine exhaust pipe emits a small amount of black smoke, and accompanied by a rhythmic "pop" sound, it can be determined that a small number of cylinders do not work or ignition timing is caused by misalignment, you can use cylinder by cylinder break method to find out not working cylinders, or check and correct the ignition timing.

3. Blue exhaust gas

Under normal circumstances, the blue smoke discharged from the exhaust pipe is caused by the lubricating oil entering the combustion chamber to participate in combustion and incomplete combustion.

The vehicle emits blue smoke or gray smoke, and can smell the burnt odor, which may be caused by the oil entering the cylinder and evaporating. In this case, first of all, replace the oil with a higher viscosity label, improve the sealing of the piston ring, check the aging degree of the valve oil seal and replace it, if the situation is not alleviated, you have to disassemble the engine to find the cause.

The vehicle only emits blue smoke, generally because the oil is not good, if the performance indicators of diesel do not meet the requirements, the engine exhaust will also appear after burning blue smoke.

4. Yellow exhaust gas

In addition to the above three colors of exhaust, there is also a special yellow exhaust, this color of exhaust is rare, generally for the three-way catalyst failure or fuel unqualified, encounter this color of exhaust, the solution is to change a tank of oil to see if it can be solved, if not, only for three.
