Can the trailer keep going when the bearings are broken?

Bearing is an important part of the trailer axle. As a high-precision, high-strength and high-speed part, it plays an important role in force transmission, decompression and buffering on the trailer chassis.

Specifically, there are three main functions of bearings:

1, bearing weight, for the hub of the steering to provide accurate guidance, not only to bear axial load, but also bearing radial load.

2, maintain the flexibility of vehicle steering, so that the vehicle steering, the shock absorber can follow the wheel rotation;

3. Cushion the vibration from the road surface. The outer ring of the pressure bearing is rubber products, which can maintain the soft connection between the body and the shock absorber and prevent the vibration from passing through the shock absorber to the body when the car is driving due to the uneven road surface.

In the process of driving, due to road conditions, load and other reasons, it is easy to damage the bearing, such as the serious wheel shaking of the vehicle when running, leading to the intensification of the vehicle jitter, or the abnormal sound of the bearing in the driving. After the bearing is broken, the light will affect the comfort, the vehicle deviation, the tire noise becomes larger, and the heavy will easily lead to the axle bending, the wheel flying out, the broken shaft or the suspension damage and other accidents, which seriously affect the driving safety. Therefore, once the bearing is damaged, it needs to be repaired and replaced immediately. Avoid continuing to drive. The practice that some owners say "the bearing is broken can also drive slowly" is not desirable.

In order to ensure driving safety to the maximum extent, trailer bearings are recommended to be maintained every 2-3 months. The maintenance of bearings mainly refers to adjusting the clearance and adding grease. The maintenance steps are as follows:

1. Remove the decorative cover and dust cover of the shaft head;

2. Remove nuts and tires, and be careful not to hurt the threads of tire bolts. If the disc brake, should remove the brake, and then use pliers to remove the lock ring or lock pin;

3. Remove the hub with special tools;

4. Scrape off the old grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean the hub bearing and journal with cleaning agent, and wipe dry, and finally wipe the hub cavity with cloth;

5, check the hub bearing and bearing ring, such as cracks, fatigue peeling, bearing roller loose, pitting phenomenon, should be replaced bearing;

6. Check the bearing inner diameter and journal, match clearance should not be greater than 0.10mm, if the match clearance exceeds the specified limit of use, the bearing should be replaced to restore the normal match clearance;

7. After checking all the parts, grease the inner bearing and put it into the hub;

8. When applying grease to the inner cavity of the bearing, attention should be paid to squeezing the grease into the bearing until the grease emerges from the other side of the bearing. Then apply a thin layer of grease in the hub cavity and shaft head cover, do not apply too much, otherwise it will affect heat dissipation and braking;

9. Install the hub and external bearing back on the journal, screw on the adjusting nut of the shaft head, and then tighten it with the shaft head wrench according to the specified torque. After tightening, the hub should be turned left and right for several turns to observe the installation of bearings. In addition, the bearing should be properly matched with the seat ring by rotation, and the bearing tightness should be appropriate.

10. Install lock piece, fixed nut, tire, dust cover and decorative cover in turn.
